Welcome to The Great House Hotel, a grade II listed building, believed to have been a gift from Queen Elizabeth 1 to the Earl of Leicester for use as a hunting lodge. More modern day Royal connections are via His Royal Highness Charles, Prince of Wales who has visited when travelling throughout Wales. Conveniently situated just 5 minutes from M4 junctions 35 and 37, the hotel is located in the heart of the Conservation village of Laleston and overlooks the ancient village church. Some of the places of interest close by include the old thatched village of Merthyr Mawr and Candleston Dunes. We are also well placed for a range of walks and 10 golf courses including the championship courses at The Royal Porthcawl and Pyle and Kenfig. Margam Abbey and Country Park are also just 5 minutes away. Leicester's Restaurant at The Great House has twice been awarded Country Restaurant of the Year . A variety of dishes are served to 2 AA rosette standard, and food is made from high-quality local ingredients. Please note that the restaurant does not open for dinner on Sunday evenings. Directions to The Great House Hotel, Restaurant and Conference Centre, BridgendThe immaculate, comfortable and welcoming Great House stands in the heart of the pretty conservation village of Laleston. The Great House is conveniently situated just five minutes off exits 35 and 37 on the M4. Directions from the M4From the EastTravelling on the M4 turn off at J35 and follow signs for Porthcawl on the A473 until its junction with the A48. Follow the A48 for approximately 3 miles to the junction with the A473 following signs for Porthcawl passing over (7 roundabouts). At this 7th roundabout, take the 2nd exit signposted Laleston and Bridgend. Continue for approx 50 yards, go straight across the mini roundabout. The Great House is approximately 30 yards beyond on the right. Turn right into Well St., and then immediately left into the car park. From the WestTravelling on the M4 turn off at J37 and take the 1st exit at the slip road (signposted for Pyle). Travel 400 yards until you reach the roundabout and take the 3rd exit signposted to Bridgend. At the next roundabout go straight across and take the 1st exit at the next roundabout signposted to Bridgend on the A473. Continue for approx 50 yards, go straight across the mini roundabout. The Great House is approximately 30 yards beyond on the right. Turn right into Well St., and then immediately left into the car park. By RailThe nearest train station is Bridgend. By AirOn leaving Cardiff airport take the B4265 west signposted Llantwit Major. Travel through the villages of Wick and St. Brides Major following the signs for Bridgend. At the junction of the B4265 and A48, turn left towards Porthcawl. At the 2nd roundabout take the 2nd exit signposted Laleston and Bridgend. Continue for approx 50 yards, go straight across the mini roundabout. The Great House is approximately 30 yards beyond on the right. Turn right into Well St., and then immediately left into the car park.
